S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences: Summer interns in physical (astrophysics, cosmology, condensed matter, material science, theoretical physics) chemical (chemical biology, biophysics), mathematical sciences can apply. and application limited to contacting respective faculties.

Physical research laboratory: Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Conducts basic research in the areas of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Solar Physics, Earth, Planetary & Space Atmospheric Sciences, Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics and Theoretical Physics. The Laboratory has several world-class experimental and computing facilities spread over its four campuses at Navrangpura and Thaltej, Ahmedabad, Infrared Observatory at Mt. Abu, and Solar Observatory at Udaipur. 
    • Eligibility:3rd 4th year. Also, 1st 2nd yearites can apply individually to faculties. Preference will be given to candidates who are KVPY/DST INSPIRE fellows. - The candidate must have taken Physics and Mathematics at the Under Graduate level. - A minimum of 60% marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s level are required for all candidates.

Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics: The purpose of UGA programme is to identify budding scientists and provide them with the necessary resources/nourishment in order to motivate them to take up scientific research in Physical and Biophysical sciences as a career option. 
    • Eligibility: First-year science undergraduate students of 3-year B. Sc programme in Physics/Chemistry/Biological Sciences in 2016 who have secured at least 85% marks in Science and Mathematics subjects individually and at least 80% in aggregate in Class XII Board Examination are only eligible to apply for the UGA programme.

    Indian Institute of Science: CeNSE: Starting from 2013, the centre conducts a training program every summer, for promising Undergraduate and Masters students selected through a rigorous and competitive process. The training is primarily based on the facilities available at CeNSE, and covers a variety of research topics under the broad umbrella of nanoscience and engineering. 
      • Eligibility: Anybody actively enrolled in a degree program (UG/PG) will be eligible. If the student is graduating before the start of summer (May), he/she will not be eligible.

    Tata Institute of Fundamental ResearchTata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) conducts annual summer programmes in which talented students are introduced to research activities in the areas of Astronomy and Physics.

    JNCSARThe Centre offers summer fellowships for two months to bright undergraduate and MSc students (renewable for a second year for selected students). Physical Sciences: Condensed matter theory and experiment, statistical physics, semiconductor materials physics, biophysics, nanophysics, organic electronics, computational materials science, soft matter, semiconductor interfaces, heterostructures, physical metallurgy and transmission electron microscopy

This is a limited programme, depending on the availability of infrastructure facilities and faculty guides. We typically select about 10-15 students Condensed Matter Physics and Statistical Mechanics including complex systems, disordered systems, high Tc superconductivity, nonequilibrium processes, superfluidity and physics of biological membranes, High Energy Physics including perturbative QCD, CP violation and B physics, neutrino physics, nonperturbative QCD, lattice gauge theory, quark gluon plasma, astroparticle physics, quantum field theory, topological QFT, conformal field theory, lattice gauge theory, quantum field theory, string theory, classical and quantum gravity, black holes, cosmology, foundations of quantum theory, Mathematical Physics including group theory and quantum computation, Non-linear Dynamics including solitons and chaos, Optics including classical and quantum optics, beam physics, and quantum information theory.

    Raman Research InstituteResearch Staff at RRI accept VSP students so that significant numbers of Undergraduate and Masters students are given an experience of experimental, phenomenological and theoretical physics/astronomy and thereby gain motivation to enter into research careers.

    Harish-Chandra Research InstituteWe run a Visiting Students Program (VSP) in Physics for which students in M.Sc, B.Tech, and final year B.Sc programs are eligible. Selected students would work in some area of physics under the guidance of a faculty member or a postdoctoral fellow.
    Indian Institute of Astrophysics
            Course projects: Students who are in the final year of B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.Phil/M.Tech can undertake their final year project work towards partial fulfillment of their degree course in IIA. The duration of such projects can be from 6 to 9 months. II. 

            Short-term projects: Students who are in the pre-final year of B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.Tech or final year B.Sc. or within 6 months after the completion of their B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc/M.Sc/M.Tech, can undertake a short-term project at IIA. The duration of such project is from 6 weeks to 6 months only. 

            PhD students from other institutions: Students who are doing their PhD in other Institutions/Universities/Colleges can visit IIA for collaborative work with IIA faculty. The total duration of this collaborative visit must not exceed 3 months in an academic year. IV. INSPIRE/KVPY fellows. Students with INSPIRE/KVPY fellowship can undertake short-term projects with IIA faculty. The duration of the project is from 6 weeks to 3 months only.
      • Stipend: Candidates who are INSPIRE/KVPY fellows/PhD students from other institutes and getting external funding/fellowship will not be given stipend and travel support.

    Institute of Physics, BhubaneswarInstitute of Physics, Bhubaneswar an Autonomous research institute of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, offers an opportunity to bright students to work in exciting research areas in Theoretical and Experimental Physics during summer every year under the Summer Students's Visiting Programme (SSVP).

    ARIES, NainitalAimed at students who have just cleared their post-graduate or B-tech/M-tech examination (in exceptional case undergraduate students also), ARIES offer an opportunity to work with ARIES faculty on a short term project (preferable 2-3 three month duration) through-out the year.     RRI VSP Program
