MS(Abroad) in physics after engineering | Physics After Engineering blog
Hey fellow physics aspirants, as the community has been receiving a lot of physics aspirants who are opting for a masters abroad, we have prepared a list of top 500 colleges of European union(which excludes Great Britain). Why specifically European union you ask? European union has invested a lot of its budget into science and is funding a large volume of research institutes working on various fields of physics. As being said that the scope and opportunity to learn, experience and work in these research institutes is quite high when compared to other countries. The prerequisite for most universities in Europe is quite nominal and is about 55% of your bachelor's aggregate. Although one must be able to score well in GRE Physics as it adds a bit of extra points for you to be considered as an eligible candidate. The reason why I did not choose to include universities and colleges from Great Britain is because the opportunity given to immigrants studying there is substantially less when compared to the European union. If you still have plans on attending British universities please prefer Oxford university, Cambridge university, Imperial college London and University college London given if you have exceptional prerequisites or at the least a highly regarded GRE physics score. Before I start enlisting all the colleges depending on the subject preference I will give you certain key instructions so that it would be easy for you to apply.
- Always make sure that one has to contact the concerned department for detailed instructions regarding the admissions requirements as few institutes strictly prefer BSc. physics candidates. This can be done by searching for the professors of the concerned college and course you opt for.
- Always have multiple options such that one can assure themselves to have a fair chance of admissions in their respective courses.
- Scholarship application will certainly reduce the chance of admissions as it is preferentially given to students with excellent undergrad score, so one must be vigilant to make sure their scores are well enough to fetch them an admission including scholarship or just the admission if one can marginally afford to pay the tuition fee.
- One must check the prerequisites of the college they opting for as most high level universities might have higher cut offs.
- Certain universities prefer having one-on-one Skype interview to check for the candidates ability to answer questions of multiple aspects ranging from personal, subject you opt for, undergrad subjects, psychological etc.
- Always have the motivation letter or statement of purpose (SOP) prepared with strong points but one should make sure they aren't faking and exaggerating their interests as European institutes are very keen on picking good motivation letters and might also undergo psychological evaluation (not just some conspiracy but a possibility considered out of personal experience).
- Always visit the website of the university to ensure the course is listed among their programs and also to check for additional embedded courses.
- Always check the list of subject modules thoroughly such that one might circle out the required subjects and select the modules best for oneself. Also check the medium of instructions or classroom language to make sure you aren't taking up courses taught in foreign language.
- Finally being fair and honest about everything including documents to one's own personality. Also make sure your degree is authenticated and apostle is done by state and central Govt. respectively as it has become a compulsion in European union.
There are certain joint masters degree program or European Masters program in which certain universities provide education and also research opportunities in all the esteemed universities of the Europe.

Thanks a lot for this Sai
ReplyDeleteThank you for aggregating this list Sai. Just curious if you have any list of Canadian universities for Physics.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to prepare a list for institutes of USA seperately, thank you for the suggestion.
DeleteHi Sai,
ReplyDeleteThanks for this amazing article..!
What about the universities in USA?
Are there enough job opportunities after finishing MS ( Physics) abroad? Even after coming back to India with an MS ( Physics) degree, are there enough job opportunities?
